CHANDIGARH, 06.09.24-MCM holds session on ‘Mental Wisdom through Scriptures’ The Character Building Committee and NSS units of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, organised a session titled ‘Mental Wisdom from Scriptures’. The session was conducted by Ms. Shyampriya from Lokayurved, a wellness organisation that focuses on holistic health and personality development through ancient wisdom. In an enlightening session delving deep into the inner aspects of personality development, Ms. Shampriya quoted Swami Vivekananda to explain that true personality development starts from within, particularly from the mind. The session covered various topics, including the three gunas of the mind- sattva (purity), rajas (activity), and tamas (inertia), and how they affect our thoughts, emotions, and actions. Practical steps to develop a sattvik (pure) mind, such as eating sattvik food, making sattvik friends, and engaging in spiritual practices like mantra chanting and spending time in a sattvik environment, were discussed. The speaker also shared practical advice on how to incorporate these practices into their daily lives, impressing upon the importance of good deeds, reciting sattvik mantras, and focusing on spiritual growth. The event was attended by 156 students, faculty members and staff. The speakers' engaging delivery, combined with practical examples and ancient wisdom, left a profound impact on the attendees. The session concluded with a call to action, encouraging students to embrace a lifestyle that fosters mental and spiritual well-being, emphasising that true personality development is rooted in the mind and spirit.

Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava expressed appreciation for the organisers’ efforts to promote mental well-being and inner peace through the teachings from our rich scriptures. She highlighted the importance of the session, adding that it offered students valuable insights into the importance of inner personality development and the treasure of knowledge in our scriptures.
