CHANDIGARH,07.10.24-On the sidelines of the prestigious PGIMER Convocation, another significant milestone was achieved with the release of the comprehensive report on Project Sarathi, an initiative aimed at enhancing healthcare services with NSS student volunteers engagement launched on 6th May, 2024 herein PGIMER.

The report release ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of Prof. Vinod K. Paul, Hon’ble Member, NITI Aayog, as the Chief Guest, and Padma Shree Prof. Jagat Ram, Former Director, PGIMER, as the Guest of Honour. Also in attendance were Prof. Vivek Lal, Director, PGIMER; Prof. R.K. Ratho, Dean (Academics); Mr. Pankaj Rai, Deputy Director (Administration) and Prof. Vipin Koushal, Medical Superintendent, PGIMER, further adding to the significance of the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest Prof. Vinod K. Paul, stated , "It is truly an honour to be here today, on this special occasion, where our youth, both boys and girls, have voluntarily stepped forward to fulfil such a wonderful responsibility. You are not just enhancing an institution like NSS but setting a remarkable example of service to society."
Prof. Paul further highlighted, "In an institute that focuses on healing, saving lives, and protecting the poor and vulnerable from out-of-pocket expenditures, your contributions are incredibly blessed. The model you have created is worth emulating, and it is heartening to see that your efforts are being recognized."

Prof. Vivek Lal, Director PGIMER, expressed his pride in the initiative, remarking, "Project Sarathi exemplifies PGIMER’s commitment to community service and innovation. The involvement of NSS Volunteers in this project has made a significant impact, and we are excited to see it grow further.”

Prof. Lal further shared, "To ensure Project Sarathi's sustainability and scalability, we have commissioned a 'before and after' impact study through the Department of Community Medicine. This will help us develop a long-term strategy for its continued success."
During the event, students involved in the project shared their feedback and experiences, providing valuable insights into the impact of their voluntary efforts. A PowerPoint presentation was made, showcasing the project's success, and a video highlighting key achievements was also released.

The event saw the presence of senior faculty, residents and staff from various departments, marking the occasion as a significant step towards strengthening healthcare systems with the support of youth energy.
