Chandigarh/New Delhi/Ambala, November 15 - Haryana Energy, Transport, and Labor Minister Sh. Anil Vij, while countering Punjab’s claim on Chandigarh, said today, "They (Punjab) are under a misconception; they are unaware of the history of Punjab and Haryana. Chandigarh can only belong to Punjab if the Hindi-speaking regions are transferred to Haryana and Haryana receives its share of SYL water. Otherwise, as much as Chandigarh belongs to Punjab, it belongs to Haryana too, he asserted."

Sh.Vij made these remarks while responding to questions asked by media persons today.

"Today is a sacred day; Guru Nanak Dev Ji descended on Earth today" - Vij

On the occasion of the birth anniversary of the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Haryana Transport Minister Anil Vij stated that "Today is a very sacred day as Guru Nanak Dev Ji descended on Earth today. It marks his 555th birth anniversary." On this occasion, Sh. Vij extended greetings and best wishes to all citizens of the state.

Commenting on former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s statement that this time, it was the system and not democracy that won in the assembly elections, Haryana Transport Minister Anil Vij responded, "There are many ways to complain. He (Hooda) is unable to accept defeat. The people have rejected him (Hooda, Congress), and now they are unable to bear it." Vij further remarked, "The people have cut their (Hooda’s) kite, and now they cannot manage it, which is why he (Hooda) is making such statements."

Responding to Rahul Gandhi’s statement that PM Modi has never read the Constitution, an agitated Transport Minister Anil Vij said, "PM Modi has complete knowledge of the Constitution, but you (Rahul Gandhi) do not. Your grandmother, Indira Gandhi, torn of pieces of Constitution during the Emergency. That is why you (Rahul Gandhi) lack knowledge of it, he said."

He added that "Rahul Gandhi is working to spread hatred in the country. The Gandhi family has not read the Constitution. Rahul Gandhi should know what his grandmother did to the Constitution. During the 1975 Emergency, all powers under the Constitution were eliminated, 1.5 lakh people were jailed, fundamental rights were suspended, and forced sterilizations were carried out. So, the Gandhi family has not read the Constitution. We have read it and know it well, he added."
