Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya’s greets people on Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas


Chandigarh, November 15, 2024: Haryana Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya, on the auspicious occasion of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas today, shared his heartfelt greetings with the people of Haryana and the entire nation.

Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, observed annually on the birth anniversary of the revered tribal freedom fighter Bhagwan Birsa Munda, serves as a reminder of the invaluable contributions and sacrifices made by India’s tribal communities in the freedom struggle, said Shri Dattatraya.


Acknowledging the rich cultural heritage, courage, and resilience of the tribal communities, Shri Dattatraya emphasized their critical role in preserving India’s diverse traditions and ecological wealth.

The Governor stated, "Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas is an occasion to honor the bravery and dedication of our tribal leaders and communities, who have contributed immensely to the social and cultural fabric of our country. Bhagwan Birsa Munda's life exemplifies the spirit of resistance against oppression and the desire for self-determination."


Shri Dattatraya further added that the Haryana government under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini is committed to promoting the welfare and upliftment of tribal communities, ensuring inclusive growth and sustainable development in alignment with the vision of "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas."

Shri Dattatraya said that the Central Government has decided to organize a year-long celebration from 15 November 2024 to 15 November 2025 on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, which is commendable and a matter of pride for the tribal community. Through various programmes organized across the country during the 150th birth anniversary year, the common people will get an opportunity to know the life of resistance and struggle of Bhagwan Birsa Munda against oppression and exploitation.

He urged the youth to draw inspiration from Bhagwan Birsa Munda’s ideals, promoting harmony, unity, and respect for the rich tribal heritage across the state and the nation.
