CHANDIGARH, 31.03.25-The the Department of Hospital Administration and Department of Community Medicine & SPH at PGIMER Satellite Centre, Sangrur, successfully conducted Swachhta Pakhwada 2025 from March 10 to 25, 2025, with the closing ceremony held on March 28, 2025. The initiative began with a Swachhta Pledge, renewing the institution’s commitment to uphold stringent sanitation standards and promote a culture of cleanliness.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ashish Jindal, Assistant Professor in Community Medicine & SPH, highlighted the importance of hand washing & hygiene practices. In addition, good hand hygiene practices has been a cost effective tool to reduce the risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection among health workers. Dr. Sruthi Sharma, Assistant Professor and DMS in the Department of Hospital Administration, encouraged healthcare workers to maintain a clean hospital environment, emphasizing its role in ensuring high-quality patient care.

Throughout the fortnight, organizers spearheaded a series of community-oriented activities, including health camps, Nukkad Nataks, and a poster competition to raise awareness about hygiene and sanitation. Addressing broader environmental concerns, the Department of Community Medicine and the Department of Hospital Administration, in collaboration with other departments, launched a plantation drive to foster a greener and healthier environment. Departments were assessed based on Kayakalp cleanliness standards, and a concluding health talk, followed by a prize distribution ceremony, recognized exceptional contributors. Notably, the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Department of Oral Hygiene, and the General Surgery Ward received special commendations for exemplary cleanliness, while nursing officers, sanitation staff, and security personnel were also honored for their creative poster contributions.

As Swachhta Pakhwada 2025 draws to a close, PGIMER Satellite Centre, Sangrur, reaffirms its commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and urges all stakeholders to collaborate in building a cleaner, healthier, and safer future for everyone.
