Utkal Diwas 2025 Celebrated in CUH
Mahendergarh, 02.04.25_Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh hosted a grand celebration of Utkal Divas 2025, showcasing the rich culture and traditions of Odisha. The event, organized by the CUH Odia family, saw enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and staff.
The program commenced with mesmerizing Odia folk songs, dances, and cultural performances, captivating the audience. Various glimpses of Odisha’s glorious heritage were presented, highlighting its historical and cultural significance. A heartfelt tribute was also paid to senior BJP leader Debendra Pradhan, the late father of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Chief Guest and Vice-Chancellor of the University remarked that Odisha's cultural heritage is immensely rich, and such events provide a platform to celebrate our diversity. This Utkal Divas celebration symbolizes unity and respect for our culture.
Shri Tanmaya Dash, Guest of Honor praised the event, stating that the rich traditions of Odisha reflect a unique blend of history, art, and spirituality. It is heartwarming to see young minds celebrating and preserving this culture with such enthusiasm. Shri Ajaya Kumar, Expert Speaker Rout addressed the audience, emphasizing the importance of cultural identity. He said that Odisha’s legacy is not just in its glorious past but also in how its people continue to uphold its values and heritage. Events like Utkal Divas serve as a reminder of our shared roots and traditions.
The anchoring of the event was skilfully handled by Sandeep, Muskan, Alekha and Isha Vaishakhi, who kept the audience engaged and energized throughout the celebration. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. Narayan Choudhuri, PhD Scholar, JMC Department, who expressed gratitude to all participants, guests, and organizers for making the event a grand success. Several faculty members, students, and the CUH Odia family played an active role in making the event memorable. Program coordinator Dr. Alekh Sachidanand was instrumental in organizing the celebration. The grand festival was widely appreciated, with participants expressing admiration for Odisha’s cultural legacy.

Panel Discussion on One Nation, One Election held at CUH

Mahendergarh-A panel discussion on 'One Nation, One Election' was organized at Central University of Haryana (CUH) on Wednesday with the collaborative efforts of the Student Welfare Dean’s Office, Law Department, NCC, and NSS units. The event was graced by the distinguished presence of Shri Satish Poonia, Former Leader of opposition, Rajasthan State Assembly as a chief guest; MLA Mr. Kanwar Singh Yadav as a guest of honour; former IAS officer Mr. Narendra Kumar and Prof. Satish Kumar from IGNOU, New Delhi as an expert speaker. Panel Discussion presided over by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar.
Mr. Satish Poonia emphasized that for India to become a developed nation, the implementation of One Nation, One Election is imperative. Sharing his experiences from recent election campaigns in Haryana, he noted that the public overwhelmingly supports this concept. Highlighting its significance, he stated that under the leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the concept has once again come to the forefront, and continuous positive discussions will help achieve its objectives.
Mr. Kanwar Singh Yadav, also supported the concept, stating that for the nation’s strength and optimal utilization of resources, it is crucial to end the cycle of frequent elections. He pointed out that continuous electoral processes create administrative hurdles, affecting good governance.
Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, expressed gratitude to the guests and organizers, emphasizing the importance of this topic in today’s context. He remarked that the current election cycle keeps the nation in perpetual election mode, which hampers development. The introduction of One Nation, One Election would alleviate this continuous electoral pressure, thereby accelerating national progress.
Expert speakers, former IAS officer Mr. Narendra Kumar and Prof. Satish Kumar from IGNOU, shared their insights. Mr. NArender Kumar pointed out that the concept is not new, as the initial elections post-independence followed this model until changes were made in 1967. He acknowledged the complexities of conducting simultaneous elections but assured its feasibility for the nation’s benefit. Prof. Satish Kumar highlighted the economic and social impacts of frequent elections and stressed the need for governance to focus on development beyond electoral cycles.
The discussion was initiated by Prof. Anand Sharma, who outlined the program, and Dr. Pradeep Kumar, Dean, School of Law introduced the topic. The event witnessed participation from numerous faculty members, students, and researchers, including Dr. Neelam, Prof. Ramesh Kumar, Prof. Renu Yadav, Dr. A.P. Sharma, Dr. Sudeep Kumar, Dr. Vinay Ahlawat, Dr. Vikas Siwach and Mr. Rakesh Meena.
