Governor Celebrates Birthday by Planting a Sapling

SHIMLA- 1st April, 2025-Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla marked his birthday by planting a Buransh (Rhododendron) sapling in the Raj Bhavan premises today. Lady Governor Janaki Shukla was also present on this special occasion.

On this auspicious day, the Governor also visited the renowned Jakhu Temple and offered prayers.

President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Speaker of Lok Sabha Shri Om Birla, Union Ministers, Governors of various states, State Cabinet members, MLAs, and other dignitaries, conveyed their birthday greetings to the Governor over the phone. They wished him good health and a long life. Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, also extended his heartfelt wishes to the Governor.

A simple, yet warm ceremony was organized at Raj Bhavan to extend greetings to the Governor on his birthday. While addressing the staff members, the Governor expressed his gratitude and said, "May I continue to receive the love and support of the people of the State so that I may always uphold the dignity of this esteemed office and contribute to the development of Himachal Pradesh." He also shared his satisfaction over the success of the anti-drug campaign initiated by him, which has now transformed into a full-fledged movement. He appreciated the efforts of the State Government in bringing strict laws to curb drug abuse and acknowledged the valuable contribution of the public in this initiative.

Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, Director General of Police Dr.Atul Verma, Senior officers, officials and other prominent people also greeted the Governor on the occasion.

Raj Bhavan Hosts ‘Milan Programme’ on Foundation Day of States

SHIMLA,1st April, 2025-Under the ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative, Raj Bhavan organized a special ‘Milan Programme’ today to commemorate the Foundation Day of Bihar, Odisha, and Rajasthan. Citizens from these states residing in Himachal Pradesh participated in the event.

Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and Lady Governor Janaki Shukla honored the attendees by presenting them with the traditional Himachali cap and muffler as a mark of respect.

The event was graced by the presence of Director General of Prisons S. R. Ojha, Additional Director General of Police Abhishek Trivedi, Additional Director General of Home Guards Satwant Atwal and Director of Social Justice Kiran Badhana, among other distinguished guests.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor highlighted the rich culture, traditions and contributions of these states, emphasizing that such events exemplify the true spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.’ He remarked, "Shimla is home to people from various states who often cannot celebrate their respective Foundation Days due to their busy schedules. This event provides a sense of belonging, making them feel at home away from home."

The Governor also reiterated his commitment to keeping Raj Bhavan accessible to the public. He announced that Raj Bhavan remains open to visitors on Saturdays and Sundays, reinforcing the idea of fostering unity and cultural exchange. "The concept of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ is about connecting with one another, understanding different languages and recognizing each other’s traditions and attire," he added.

During the event, attendees introduced themselves and shared insights into the rich cultural heritage of their respective states. Musician Dhanpat captivated the audience with a mesmerizing Rajasthani folk song.

The Secretary to Governor C.P. Verma and other prominent people were also present on the occasion
