Chief Minister releases poetry collection “Buransh: The Fragrance of Words”
SHIMLA-6th April, 2025-Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, on Saturday late evening, released the poetry collection “Buransh: The Fragrance of Words”, authored by young poetess and educator Anupama Sharma, in Shimla. Anupama Sharma serves as a lecturer of English in Government Senior Secondary School (Girls), Hamirpur.
Lauding the creative work, the Chief Minister said that the poems beautifully express deep human emotions, the sorrow of broken relationships, the solitude of self-reflection, and the yearning for new beginnings amidst nature’s serenity. He said that the collection resonates with the emotional fabric of life and explores the inner journey of the self through poetic expressions.
The 56-page poetry book, published by Satluj Publications and priced at Rs. 150, features 39 thought-provoking poems and the proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to the Mukhyamantri Sukh Ashraya Yojana. In addition to her literary talents, Anupama Sharma is also passionate about bike riding, sports and trekking. Her deep bond with nature finds vivid expression throughout her writing.
Education Minister Rohit Thakur, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh and Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani were also present on the occasion.

Chief Minister lays foundation stone of Ellerslie Building Phase-II
SHIMLA, 06.04.25-Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today laid the foundation stone of Phase-II of the historic Ellerslie Building in Shimla. The project, estimated to cost Rs. 19.72 crore, is scheduled for completion by April 2026.
The upcoming six-storied structure will include three floors for parking, two floors designated for Secretariat offices and other amenities. Once completed, the facility is expected to significantly decongest the Secretariat complex and enhance accessibility for the public. The Chief Minister said that the new infrastructure will streamline public movement, provide better amenities and help reduce traffic congestion along the circular road.
Interacting with the media, the Chief Minister stated that the state government is open to any form of investigation. “If the Enforcement Directorate (ED) can conduct raids in Nadaun, then who is stopping the CBI from carrying out an investigation” he remarked. He accused the BJP of politicizing the issue related to the unfortunate death of Chief Engineer Vimal Negi and assured that the state government is committed to a fair and transparent inquiry.
He added that the government is treating the matter with utmost sensitivity and seriousness. “Everyone wants to know the truth behind Vimal Negi’s death. His wife has also met me and we stand in full sympathy and solidarity with the bereaved family,” the Chief Minister said.

CM reviews plans for Grand New Complex in Sabzi Mandi area, Shimla
SHIMLA-6th AprilChief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today chaired a high-level meeting with senior officials at the Secretariat to review the proposed development of a new grand complex at Sabzi Mandi area of Shimla. The upcoming complex will house the office of the Shimla Municipal Corporation along with a shopping complex, hotel, residential flats, shops, parking facilities and various other amenities. The multi-purpose project is aimed at enhancing urban infrastructure and giving a fresh boost to tourism in the city.
The complex will be constructed in two phases across approximately 14 bighas of land. The first phase will involve the development of around 4 lakh square feet, while the second phase will cover approximately 1.40 lakh square feet. The State Government will provide about Rs. 200 crore for the construction work of the first phase.
The Chief Minister directed officers to initiate the construction work for the first phase at the earliest. He further stated that the employees’ colony in the area will also be redeveloped as part of the project. Emphasizing the aesthetic and functional value of the complex, he said the initiative will significantly enhance the urban landscape of Shimla.
The Chief Minister also instructed the Shimla Municipal Corporation to engage in dialogue with local residents to ensure the smooth execution of the project.
Mayor of Shimla Municipal Corporation Surender Chauhan expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for approving this major initiative for Shimla City. He said that the new complex will emerge as a landmark in Shimla, addressing long-standing local challenges and contributing significantly to the tourism potential of the hill capital.

Delegation thanks CM for appointing Buddhi Singh Thakur as Milkfed Chairman
SHIMLA-6th April-A delegation from Kullu district called on Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu at Oak Over today to express their gratitude for appointing Buddhi Singh Thakur as the Chairman of Himachal Pradesh Milkfed.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the State Government is making focused efforts to strengthen the rural economy in which Milkfed has a significant role to play. He stated that 90 percent of the state’s population resides in rural area and the government is committed to improving their standard of living.
He said that the government has increased the milk procurement price by Rs. 21 per litre over the last two years. In addition, wheat and maize produced through natural farming are being purchased by the government. He said that Himachal Pradesh has set the highest support price in the country i.e. Rs. 60 per kg for wheat and Rs. 40 per kg for maize. Turmeric too will be procured at a support price of Rs. 90 per kg.
The Chief Minister said that the state government has introduced the ‘Indira Gandhi Sukh Shiksha Yojana’ under which children of widows up to the age of 27 years are being offered free higher education. Furthermore, financial assistance of Rs. 3 lakh is being provided to widows and single women for house construction.
Referring to Buddhi Singh Thakur, the Chief Minister said, “He and I began our political journey together in NSUI. He has seen many ups and downs in life and so I am pleased with his appointment. Kullu district will continue to get due representation and I will soon visit the Anni Assembly Constituency and spend a night there.”
MLA Sunder Singh Thakur appreciated the Chief Minister’s initiatives to strengthen the rural economy and recalled his presence and support during the natural calamity in the year 2023 stating that the entire Kullu district stands united with the Chief Minister.
Newly appointed Milkfed Chairman Buddhi Singh Thakur thanked the Chief Minister for the trust and honor bestowed upon him. He said that he has been associated with the Congress Party for the last 45 years and his appointment is not only a personal honor but also recognition of the Anni Assembly segment and the entire Kullu district. He assured that he would strive to fulfill the expectations of the government.

Chief Minister listens to public grievances in village Daro Deoria of district Sirmaur
SHIMLA, 06.04.25-Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today listened to the public grievances of the people of the area during his visit to village Daro Deoria under sub-tehsil Narag of district Sirmaur. He assured the people to sympathetically consider the demands put forth by them.
On reaching Daro Deoria, the residents of the village extended a grand welcome to the Chief Minister with traditional musical instruments. The village residents including Pradhan Gram Panchayat Daro Deoria Devender Thakur honored Chief Minister.
Later, the Chief Minister made a courtesy visit to former Chief Justice of India T S Thakur at his residence in Daro Deoria.
