Chandigarh, April 19:- Reaffirming the commitment to the welfare of animals, the Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh undertook a detailed inspection of various animal welfare centres across the city.
Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, Commissioner, MCC visited multiple facilities to review ongoing services and assess infrastructure related to animal care.
During his visit, the Commissioner inspected the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) building to evaluate the support being provided to injured animals, including dogs and birds. He interacted with staff members and reviewed the quality of services and facilities available at the centre.
Further, the Commissioner visited the Gaushala and the Animal Birth Control Centre at Raipur Kalan. He also inspected the upcoming Veterinary Hospital in the same area. Directives were issued to expedite the completion of infrastructure and ensure the hospital is equipped with necessary medical equipment to begin operations at the earliest.
Sh. Amit Kumar also visited the Cattle Pound located in the Industrial Area. He conducted an enquiry into the feeding and general care of cows and calves housed there. Emphasizing the importance of animal health, he instructed the officials to draft a comprehensive plan focused on animal welfare, including the provision of high-quality medical services for injured and diseased animals.
The Commissioner reiterated MCC's dedication to the humane treatment and well-being of animals, underlining that such initiatives are crucial for a compassionate and responsible city.
