CHANDIGARH, OCTOBER 31: Strengthening the spirit of national unity under the theme of “Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat”, the Foundation Day of Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Punjab Raj Bhavan.

The ceremony was organized jointly by Punjab Raj Bhavan and Chandigarh Administration.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Banwari Lal Purohit, Governor of Punjab and Administrator of UT, Chandigarh expressed his delight in hosting this significant celebration, praising the unique cultures and traditions of these regions. He emphasized the need to recongise and celebrate the diverse cultural tapestry that makes India truly exceptional.

He further said that the ‘Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat’ programme under which the Formation days of various States and UTs are celebrated, aims to forge a strong relationship and bonding among people of the country.

It enhances mutual interaction, promotes understanding and strengthens the bond of ‘One Nation – One People’.

During this programme, he also appealed to everyone to come together and take a pledge to build a new and strong nation.

The celebrations began with a captivating cultural program showcasing the rich heritage of Ladakh through mesmerizing melodious Ladakhi folk music and folk dance performances like Jabro which enthralled the audience.

The event was graced by dignitaries, including Mr. Satya Pal Jain, Additional Solicitor General of India, Mr. Dharam Pal, Adviser to Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Mr Praveer Ranjan, DGP, UT, Chandigarh and former DGP, Punjab, Mr. P.C. Dogra.
