Paradigm shift in education sector in state around 27 lakh parents attends Mega PTM in Punjab: CM

Participates in mega PTM at School of Eminence in Nangal

Says health, education, power, water and infrastructure are top five priorities of his government

asserts that due to concerted efforts of state government recharge of water table has started

Nangal, October 22:Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday said that the state is on threshold of a revolution in education sector as about 27 lakh parents are attending mega Parent Teachers Meeting across the state in government schools.

Interacting with the media persons during his visit to the School of Eminence during mega PTM organised here today, the Chief Minister said that it is a historic day as this PTM is taking place. He said that around 27 lakh parents are enquiring about the studies, atmosphere, curriculum and other things being offered to their kids. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that it will also provide an opportunity to teachers for explaining performance of student in the schools.

The Chief Minister said that this was a paradigm shift as such PTMs were a regular practice earlier in private schools but were missing in government schools. He said that this is one of the best practices of education being adopted here for the well being of the students. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government has embarked an era of education revolution in Punjab and no stone is being left unturned for it.

The Chief Minister said that Punjab government has sent six batches of 202 principals/education officers for a five day Leadership Development Programme to Singapore.Likewise, he said that a batch of 72 of brightest primary teachers have embarked on a journey to Finland for professional training on Friday. Similarly, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that three batches of 152 Headmaster/ education officers was sent to IIM Ahmedabad for getting state of the art academic training adding that the motive is to ensure that students of the state get world class education in Punjab thereby excelling in every field.

The Chief Minister said that Punjab Government has regularized 12316 qualified employees working for more than 10 years in School Education Department. Likewise, he said that Total 10361 teachers have been recruited since April 2022. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that around Rs. 82 crore have been allocated for safety and cleanliness in school.

The Chief Minister said that a Total of 118 government schools are being transformed as State of Art Schools of Eminence adding that a budget of Rs.29.3 crore has been provided for high speed fiber WiFi internet connections in all government schools in the state. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that Uniforms have been distributed to all students of Schools and a budget of around Rs 35 crore has been released for providing free uniforms to students. He said that transport facility has been started for 118 schools of eminence and 17 girls’ senior secondary schools by School Education Department Punjab.

The Chief Minister said that Punjabis are born leaders and these students possess inherent qualities to excel in every field. He said that these students are planes and the state government will provide them Launchpad to go ahead in life. Bhagwant Singh Mann unequivocally said that he won’t rest until the students of Punjab don’t achieve their desired goals.

The Chief Minister said that parents must have faith in the capacities and capabilities of their kids as they can excel in any field. He said that the students should not be forced to adopt a particular stream rather he should be encouraged to go by his choice. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that health, education, power, water and infrastructure are top five priorities of his government.

The Chief Minister said that due to strenuous efforts of the state government water level in state has started rising as optimum utilisation of canal water is being made. He said that the state government is focusing on cleanliness and preservation of water. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that it is heartening to learn that the recharge of water table in state has started and this process will continue in coming times.

The Chief Minister also said that the state government is opening eight hi-tech centres for imparting training to the students for competitive exams. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that these centres will provide quality training to youth for clearing the UPSC exams and sit on coveted positions in state and country. He said that the target of the state government is to ensure that youth sit in high offices and serve the country.

The Chief Minister said that Punjab was a frontrunner and Punjab will always continue to be that as Punjabis have been blessed with indomitable spirit of hard work and resilience. He said that the state government is performing its duty meticulously and zealously to ensure that Punjab leads the country in every sphere. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that he is not worried for the next elections but he is working for the welfare of the next generation, due to which several path breaking initiatives have been taken.

The Chief Minister said that the state government is making concerted efforts for promoting tourism in the kandi area of the state. He said that these areas have bounty of natural resources and these areas can be developed as an ideal tourist destinations for attracting the tourist from across the globe. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that there is a huge potential for developing these areas as a tourist destination for which all out efforts will be made.

The Chief Minister said that BBMB is a body constituted under the provisions of the Punjab Reorganization Act 1966, which primarily deals with the successor States of Punjab and Haryana. He said that the state government is already in process for filling the vacant posts in BBMB and no stone is being left unturned for it. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that already all the posts in Chandigarh administration from state quota has been filled and now posts in BBMB will also be filled too.

The Chief Minister said that it is heartening to see that the desired results are being produced and youth are becoming an active partner in social-economic progress of the state. He said that it is on record that educational institutions in the state are witnessing a huge surge in admissions by the youth. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that due to pro-people policies of the state government, this trend will continue in future too.

CM raises issue of procurement with Amit Shah

Seeks intervention of Union Home Minister for further smoothening the procurement process in state

Hopes for positive outcome of meeting between Millers and centre

Chandigarh, October 22:Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday seek the kind intervention of Union Home Minister Amit Shah for carrying out smooth procurement operation in the state.

During telephonic conversation with Union Home Minister, Bhagwant Singh Mann apprised him about the hiccups in smooth procurement operations. He informed the Union Home Minister that issues like transportation cost, shortage of storage, issue of hybrid variety quality and loss to sheller owners is jeopardising the procurement process. The Chief Minister urged the Government of India to pay heed towards resolution of these issues in larger interest of the country.

The Chief Minister said that farmers, Arthias and millers are the backbone of Food security in the country. He said that while farmers produce the grains, Arthias and millers ensure that they are procured, stored and lifted properly. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this year 185 lakh metric ton paddy is expected in the state adding that state government has made elaborate arrangements for smooth procurement of grains.

However, the Chief Minister said that certain issues of millers like storage space, Driage and transportation are concerned with the union government due to which process of lifting is little slow. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that he had already flagged these issues with the union government adding that meeting of millers is scheduled to be held in New Delhi with Union Home Minister on Wednesday. He said that the union government must sympathetically consider the genuine demands of millers so that procurement process can be completed smoothly.

The Chief Minister said that the state government is committed for smooth and hassle free procurement of grains. He said that due to late milling during last marketing season storage space of 120 lakh metric ton has not been freed yet. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that centre should immediately sets its wheels in motion to free this space so that further milling can start.

The Chief Minister said that it is imperative for national food security and smooth execution of Public Distribution system. He said that as the season of wheat is also coming ahead so it is in the larger interest of the country that this issue is resolved immediately. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government is committed for safeguarding the interests food growers of the country.

Dwelling on another issue, the Chief Minister said that the centre government should immediately release the state’s pending share of RDF. He said that Punjab government has already completed the necessary formalities for it and now it is the high time that centre should release this money. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that states are not beggars and they should be given their legitimate share of funds by centre instead of harassing them.
