Chandigarh, Feb 13:Under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and the visionary guidance of Local Government Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh, significant strides have been made to transform and enhance the infrastructure of Punjab's cities, with Ludhiana emerging as a prime example of this progress.
In Ludhiana, a total of 85 infrastructure projects, amounting to a substantial Rs. 930 crore, have been conceived. These projects are set to revolutionize the city's infrastructure, boost quality of life, and bring modern solutions to long-standing urban challenges.
A remarkable 65 projects, valued at Rs. 712.86 crore, have already been completed, covering a wide range of development initiatives. Key achievements include the construction of Railway Over Bridges (RoB) and Railway Under Bridges (RuB) on Pakhowal Road, Water Front Development along the Sidhwan Canal, the introduction of Smart eClassrooms, the development of Malhar Road as a Smart Road, and the establishment of a Municipal Command & Control Centre for enhanced surveillance and security. Additionally, efforts to improve Solid Waste Management through the use of compactors and the installation of LED streetlights have been successfully completed. The development of green spaces, including parks, has also been a priority.
Furthermore, 17 ongoing projects, worth Rs. 199.26 crore, are currently under execution. These initiatives focus on improving water supply, advancing Solid Waste Management through bio-remediation, and enhancing sports infrastructure, including the construction of a state-of-the-art all weather swimming pool at Rakh Bagh. Key road and bridge projects are also underway, ensuring smoother connectivity and improved transportation in the city.
Additionally, 3 projects valued at Rs. 18.08 crore are in the tendering phase, including the development of the Nehru Rose Garden, sewerage machinery, and further park enhancements, which will contribute to the beautification and sustainability of the city.

Punjab Government Organizes One-Day Training Session on eDAR Software Implementation in Chandigarh
eDAR will Ensure Efficient Accident Reporting, Faster Claims and Better Public Safety, says Jaspreet Singh
Chandigarh, February 13-In a bid to reduce road accidents and improve accident reporting and claim settlements, a one-day training session was conducted at MGSIPA in Chandigarh to ensure the implementation of the eDAR (Electronic Detailed Accident Report) software in the state of Punjab. This session was jointly organized under the guidence of Transport Minister S. Laljit Singh Bhullar by NIC (National Informatics Centre) and the Transport Department, Punjab, as per the guidelines of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
Dignitaries attending the event included State Transport Commissioner Shri Jaspreet Singh, Additional State Transport Commissioner Shri Sukhwinder Kumar, State Head NIC Punjab Shri Vivek Verma, CGM NIC Delhi Shri Jatinder Kumar, NIC Punjab Shri Narinder Singh, NIC official Shri Pawan Gupta and Deputy General Manager General Insurance Council of India Madam Vasundra. Shri Des Raj, Joint Director, Lead Agency on Road Safety and Shri Ganesh Kumar, DSP Headquarters.
Divulging in this regard, State Transport Commissioner S. Jaspreet Singh informed that the training session featured a detailed presentation on the eDAR system by experts from NIC. Officials were briefed on effective data entry procedures in the eDAR system, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of accidents. Madam Vasundra from the General Insurance Council of India also provided insights on handling hit-and-run cases, which will help accident victims receive faster financial compensation.
He further said that the eDAR system will enable real-time accident data collection, leading to quicker response times. Victims and their families will receive financial assistance more efficiently through streamlined claim processing. The initiative ensures better medical care for accident victims without delays. Data-driven analysis will help authorities take preventive measures to reduce accidents in Punjab.
He added that the key topics covered during the training included scientific crash investigation, cashless treatment for accident victims and accident claim settlements. This initiative aims to ensure a more efficient and transparent accident reporting and claim settlement process in Punjab.
The session witnessed active participation from senior officials representing various departments, including Regional Transport Officers (RTOs), Motor Vehicle Inspectors (MVIs), Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) from the Punjab Police, representatives from the Health Department and dignitaries from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

Vigilance Bureau nabs health employee taking Rs 7000 bribe
Accused previously received Rs 3000 for this motive
Chandigarh February 13, 2025 -The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing drive against corruption in the state, has apprehended Satinder Kumar, Assistant in Emergency Ward, Civil Hospital, Ludhiana red handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs. 7000.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said the above mentioned accused have been arrested based on a complaint lodged by Vijay Kumar, a resident of Jassal Colony, Ludhiana. He further informed that the complainant has approached the VB alleging that the above said employee has demanded a bribe of Rs 10000 for issuing a receipt regarding medico-legal report. The complainant further alleged that the accused has already taken Rs 3000 from him regard a d demanding the remaining amount.
The spokesperson added that after a preliminary enquiry on this complaint a VB team from Economic Offences Wing, Ludhiana range laid a trap during which the accused Assistant has been arrested red handed while he was accepting Rs 7000 as a bribe from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses. In this regard a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered against the said accused at VB police station Ludhiana. Further investigation into this case was under progress, he said.

Vigilance Bureau nabs ASI, private person taking Rs 40,000 bribe
Chandigarh February 13, 2025 -The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing anti-corruption drive, on Thursday arrested an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Gurmeet Kaur, posted at EVS South and her accomplice Harpreet Singh, a private person, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said the above-mentioned accused have been arrested based on a complaint lodged by Sikander Singh, a resident of village Wazir Bhullar, in tehsil Baba Bakala, Amritsar district.
He further informed that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged in his complaint that the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 1,50,000 for favoring the complainant, his father and brother in a police case being investigated by the above said ASI. The accused had already taken Rs 10,000 through Google Pay and had been demanding second instalment of bribe amounting to Rs 40,000.
The spokesperson added that after verification of this complaint a VB team from Amritsar range laid a trap during which aforementioned accomplice of ASI has been caught red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.40,000 from the complainant on her behalf in the presence of two official witnesses. Subsequently the said accused ASI was also arrested in this case.
He added that in this regard a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against both the accused at VB Police Station, Range Amritsar. The accused would be produced in the competent court tomorrow and further investigation into this case was under progress.

Vigilance Bureau arrests PSPCL JE accepting Rs Rs.10,000 bribe
Chandigarh February 13, 2025 - The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, on Thursday, has arrested Jatinder Singh, posted as Junior Engineer (J.E) of Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd (PSPCL) at Sub Division Qadian, in Gurdaspur district for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said the above-mentioned accused has been arrested based on a complaint lodged by Kashmir Singh, a resident of Mohalla Tarkhanwali, Qadian.
He informed that the complainant has approached the VB alleging that the above said accused has demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 for issuing temporary domestic electricity connection for an under construction house of his daughter-in-law.
The spokesperson further added that after a preliminary enquiry of his complaint a VB team laid a trap during which the said accused was caught red handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
He added that in this regard a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the said accused at VB Police Station, Range Amritsar. The accused would be produced in the competent court tomorrow and further investigation of this case is being carried out by VB Unit Gurdaspur, he said.

Punjab Government to Fill 111 Horticulture Development Officer Vacancies Soon: Mohinder Bhagat
Chandigarh, February 13,The Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has taken a significant step towards strengthening the horticulture sector in the state by approving the recruitment of 111 Horticulture Development Officers (HDOs). Horticulture Minister Shri Mohinder Bhagat informed that the Chief Minister has given his approval to proceed with the recruitment process for filling these 111 vacancies of HDOs. He has instructed senior officials to submit the necessary details to the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) to initiate the selection process at the earliest.
The Minister further emphasized that the appointment of HDOs will significantly contribute to the development of the horticulture sector by providing farmers with technical expertise, modern agricultural practices and improved support services.
