SHIMLA-18 February, 2025-NCC cadets from Himachal Pradesh, who participated in the Republic Day Camp 2025, called on Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla at Raj Bhavan today and shared their experiences. As many as 93 cadets from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh NCC Directorate participated in the Republic Day Camp, including 23 cadets from Himachal Pradesh.
The Governor expressed his delight that these cadets represented the State at the prestigious national event. He remarked that their participation was a matter of pride for Himachal Pradesh. "NCC is not just an organization but a powerful platform for discipline, leadership, patriotism, and service," he said. The Governor emphasized that the training they received at the camp would not only make them responsible citizens but also enhance their personalities and inspire them to serve the nation.
Shri Shukla lauded the rich legacy of Himachal Pradesh, referring to it as "Veer Bhoomi". He highlighted the immense contribution of the state's youth to national defence and service. "You are the flag bearers of this glorious tradition," he told the cadets. He also reiterated the core motto of NCC- "Unity and Discipline" and encouraged them to imbibe these values in their daily lives.
The Governor urged the cadets to actively contribute to the fight against drug abuse by raising awareness about the threat of drug addiction in their schools, colleges, and local communities.
"As responsible youth, you must not only stay away from drugs but also motivate those around you to do the same," he stated, emphasizing their role in building a Drug-Free Himachal Pradesh.
Brigadier Roveen from NCC Group Headquarters, Shimla, delivered the vote of thanks on behalf of the NCC contingent.
Secretary to the Governor Chandra Prakash Verma along with senior NCC officials, including Deputy Commander Colonel A.S. Bains, Training Officer Colonel Ravi Kumar Saini, Commanding Officer Lt. Colonel Praveen Thakur and other officers and training staff from NCC Group Shimla were also present on the occasion.
