Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday conducted a surprise inspection of the newly constructed Sub Tehsil complex and Hospital at Cheema (Sangrur) and Tehsil Complex at Sardulgarh (Mansa) to take stock of the citizen centric services being delivered at the grass-root level.
The Chief Minister reached the Sub Tehsil complex in the afternoon and interacted with the people, who lauded the Chief Minister and his government for ensuring delivery of foolproof services to them. He said that the feedback of people is of immense importance for efficient working of the state government. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that he has visited the complex for the well being of people and to ensure that their works are being done in a smooth and hassle free manner.
The Chief Minister said that this is not aimed at any sort of fault finding of officers but the motive is to further streamline the things in the government offices. He said that people of the state had seen this for the first time that a Chief Minister of state is visiting the government offices. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the aim is just to ensure the well being of the people of state by ensuring citizen centric services to them by all means.
The Chief Minister said that all the government officers must perform their duties honestly and meticulously to ensure that people do not face any sort of inconvenience during their visit to the government offices. He said that the state government's top priority is to resolve people's day-to-day office work promptly, ensuring hassle-free services. Meanwhile, Bhagwant Singh Mann also reviewed the arrangements for the upcoming mela in the memory of Sant Baba Attar Singh.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is committed for making foolproof arrangements to facilitate lakhs of pilgrims coming to the mela. He asked the officers to ensure that no stone is being left unturned for this noble cause. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that he will personally keep a regular tab on the arrangements being done by the district administration in this regard.
The Chief Minister also inspected the ongoing work at the under construction hospital coming up in the area. He envisioned that the upcoming 20-bedded hospital will act as a catalyst in imparting quality health services to the people. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the ongoing work on this hospital will be completed by June 30, this year after which it will be dedicated to the masses.
Meanwhile at Sardulgarh, the Chief Minister said that the state government is making strenuous efforts to give facelift to the state by ensuring its holistic development. He said that the state government is laying major thrust on the development of health, education, power, employment and infrastructure development sectors adding that a comprehensive plan has been formulated to ensure that these core areas of immense public importance get a major fillip in the state. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that no stone is being left unturned for this noble cause aimed at making Punjab a frontrunner state in the country thereby ensuring prosperity of Punjabis.
The Chief Minister said that due to the concerted efforts of the state government the schools of Punjab are getting new buildings, roads are being constructed; youth are getting government jobs and overall development is being witnessed in every sector. He said that these thrust areas were hitherto ignored by the previous state governments due which Punjab has lagged behind in pace of development. However, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this is the roadmap of Rangla Punjab, which is being carved out with the active support of the common man.
The Chief Minister who interacted with the people to get their feedback said that the appointment of regular Tehsildar in the tehsil will be done very soon. He also ordered the installation of high speed internet at the complex to speed up the working of the office. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that these things are needed for further enhancing the efficiency and working of the government departments.
Replying to a query, the Chief Minister categorically said that the state government is fully with the Punjabis who have been recently deported from the USA. He said that the state government will provide them opportunities for rehabilitation so that they become active partners in socio-economic development of Punjab. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government has roped in the youth who have successfully set up their ventures, after facing the same sort of hardships and trauma, to motivate the deportees for starting a new life here.

Administration accords guard of honour to Cabinet Minister
Ludhiana/Chandigarh February 18-Punjab’s Freedom Fighter and Defence Services Welfare Minister, Mohinder Bhagat, stated on Tuesday that the welfare of freedom fighters, ex-servicemen, widows and their dependents is a top priority of the state government.
During his visit to the Maharaja Ranjit Singh War Museum and the Defence Services Welfare Office, accompanied by Ludhiana North MLA Madan Lal Bagga, the Minister Bhagat listened to their concerns and expressed his department’s commitment to addressing their genuine needs. He emphasized that the nation will always be indebted to these brave individuals whose sacrifices secured independence.
He added that 13% vacancies have been reserved for the ESM in Group A, B, C & D posts in Punjab. He also directed the officials to ensure issues of freedom fighters, ex-servicemen and widows must be heard properly whenever they visit the government offices.
Mr.Bhagat highlighted the importance of providing efficient and transparent services to them and asked the officials to address all concerns promptly. He also stressed the need to raise awareness about the Maharaja Ranjit Singh War Museum, stating that it is an excellent place to learn about the history of our martyrs and the wars that took place after Independence.
The Minister also honoured the parents of Agniveer Ajay Kumar, who served in the 17 Sikh Li and lost his life in a landmine explosion at the Kalal Sector in Jammu and Kashmir during operational duty on January 18, 2024, as part of Operation Rakshak. The Punjab Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann, had previously provided Ajay Kumar's family with a cheque of Rs 1 crores last year.
Additionally, the Minister presented a cheque of Rs 1 lakh from the Flag Day Fund to Sukhveer Kaur, the widow of Naik Ranjit Singh, who served in the 112 Engineer Regiment and died on duty on November 10, 2024. He also distributed cheques of financial assistance amounting to Rs 5,000 each to 12 non-pensioner ex-servicemen and widows from the Flag Day Fund.

Earlier, the Cabinet Minister was accorded a guard of honour at the museum by the district administration during his maiden visit to Ludhiana after assuming office. He took a salute from the Punjab Police guard of honour and laid a wreath at the memorial. Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal welcomed the Cabinet Minister to the museum. He also held a brief meeting with the Deputy Commissioner and other officials to review on-going schemes.

Chandigarh/Patiala, February 18:Punjab Local Bodies Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh today held a review meeting at the Municipal Corporation Patiala office to assess ongoing development projects and infrastructure improvements in the city. The meeting was attended by Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, who is also the local MLA, MLA Patiala Urban Ajitpal Singh Kohli, Mayor Kundan Gogia, Chairman Improvement Trust Megh Chand Shermajra, AAP Urban President Tejinder Mehta, Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rajat Obrai, and other senior officials.
Dr. Ravjot Singh emphasized the need for further improvements in basic amenities, including cleanliness, beautification, road construction, street lighting, water supply, and sewage management. He directed Municipal Corporation officials to coordinate with councillors and complete key ward-level projects within the stipulated timeframe. He also announced that he would personally review the progress of all projects after one month.
The Minister Dr Ravjot Singh stressed the timely completion of the 24x7 canal water supply project and the repair of roads dug up for pipeline installation. Raising concerns over delays, MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli urged action against L&T and other stakeholders responsible for project slowdowns. Dr. Ravjot Singh also took serious note of irregularities in the laying of sewer lines near Vadi Nadi and Chotti Nadi, summoning officials from the Sewerage Board for an explanation.
Dr. Ravjot Singh directed the Municipal Corporation to explore new revenue sources and conduct a physical verification of sanitation workers’ attendance to ensure efficiency in city cleanliness efforts. He also called for additional manpower for sewer cleaning and emphasized the procurement of super-suction and jet-suction machines to improve the sewerage system.
The Minister also reviewed the functioning of MRF (Material Recovery Facility) centers and solid waste management plants. Stressing the need for scientific waste disposal, he instructed officials to work towards reducing dumping sites and enhancing garbage collection from homes to ensure daily street cleaning.
Dr. Ravjot Singh directed officials to conduct an audit of the work done by the agency managing super-suction machines. He also emphasized the urgent repair of old streetlights and faster installation of new ones to improve visibility and safety in city areas.
Addressing parking and traffic congestion issues and enhance the city’s aesthetics, he ordered beautification and cleanliness at entry points, proper maintenance of road dividers, and the installation of adequate lighting.
Keeping view the upcoming monsoon season, Dr. Ravjot Singh instructed officials to clean drains, sewer lines, and rainwater outlets, check for water supply leaks, and ensure the availability of necessary machinery to prevent urban flooding.
To tackle the growing issue of dog bites, he directed the Municipal Corporation to intensify the sterilization program, aiming for a higher daily count of sterilized stray dogs.
The Minister urged officials to work in close coordination with newly elected councillors to provide better civic amenities, particularly for residents of slum areas. He warned that any negligence in executing infrastructure projects would result in strict action.
The meeting was also attended by Senior Deputy Mayor Harinder Kohli, Deputy Mayor Jagdeep Jagga, Joint Director Local Government Jagdeep Sehgal, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Navreet Kaur Sekhon, Joint Commissioners Babbandeep Singh Walia and Deepjot Kaur, and other Municipal Corporation officials.
