Mahendergarh, 04.04.25-A special training workshop to Sensitize the Deans and Heads of Departments for mental health needs of students was organized on Friday at Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh. The workshop was conducted under the directives of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, with the aim of creating awareness about mental health and providing support to the students. In this special workshop organized by the Students Service Cell and Wellness Clinic in collaboration with the Department of Psychology, deans, heads of departments, TICs, and faculty members of the University learned about various mental health issues faced by students and how to diagnose and resolve them. Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of the University appreciated the organizers through a message, emphasizing that such workshops would undoubtedly enhance mutual coordination among teachers and assist in addressing diverse student-related challenges. Professor Sandeep Singh Rana from Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar deliberated as expert speaker in the workshop.

The program commenced with a welcome by the University Registrar, Prof. Suneel Kumar, who highlighted the significance of the topic. He stressed the importance of teachers understanding students' mental states and supporting them in diagnosing and addressing their issues effectively. Prof. Payal Kanwar Chandel, Dean, School of Humanities and Social Sciences and Head of the Department of Psychology, outlined the workshop’s objective—to ensure the proper diagnosis of mental health issues among university students. She emphasized that teachers, who have direct interactions with students, play a pivotal role in creating a positive environment to help students overcome psychological and mental health challenges.
In his address, Professor Sandeep Singh Rana emphasized the importance of self-awareness for better mental health. He stated, "Better mental health begins with a healthy mind. Only with a positive mindset can we build better individuals, societies, institutions, and ultimately, a stronger nation." He encouraged participants to focus on the present, harnessing their strengths for personal growth and success. Prof. Rana stressed the need to accept each student with their unique identity, which is crucial for diagnosing their issues and supporting their developmental journey. He urged teachers to recognize students not just through their academic performance but by understanding their personal behaviors to help them realize their full potential.
Highlighting India’s rich cultural and social heritage, Professor Rana emphasized that understanding and preserving ancient wisdom can guide the younger generation in shaping the future of India. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Assistant Professor Dr. Vishnu Narayan Kucheria, acknowledging the contributions of all participants and organizers.
