CHANDIGARH,Dev Samaj College for Women, Sector 45B, Chandigarh organized an Inter-College Debate and Declamation Contest on November 8, 2024. The event, jointly organized by the college's VADA Club and D-Masters' Club, drew enthusiastic participation from various city colleges.

The competition witnessed impressive participation with 23 entries in the debate category and 15 entries in declamation from as many as 13 institutions. Two distinguished judges presided over the event: Dr. Nidhi Rana from PGGCG, Sector 42, Chandigarh, and Dr. Ila Rathor from the host institution. Prof. (Dr.) Neeru Malik, Principal, Dev Samaj College for Women, shared that we should stay away from drugs and rather make our work our addiction. She also asserted that the youth should empower and spread the goal of sustainable world free of substance abuse.

The debate cantered around the topic "Peer pressure is the primary cause of drug abuse among youth," where participants presented compelling arguments both for and against the motion. After a close competition, the results were as follows:

The declamation competition featured intense participation around the theme 'Families under the shadow of addiction: how to support and rebuild'.

Second Position: Livjot Kaur (Home Science College, Sector 10)
Third Position: Nitika (DAV PG College, Sector 10)
