CHANDIGARH:25.11.24- A workshop on making jute and paper bags was organised in Maharishi Dayanand Public School, Dariya, Chandigarh in collaboration with the Environment Department, Chandigarh. It was conducted under the supervision of teachers. They taught the children to make paper and jute bags. During the programme, the students were told that plastic bags cause pollution. These bags contain a lot of viruses, so food items should not be kept in them. Animals are losing their lives by eating polythene. The water of rivers also gets polluted due to these plastic bags.

The students explained the importance of jute bags and said that it does not harm the essential elements of the earth. Being environment friendly, it does not allow the production of poisonous gases and harmful chemicals. Jute and paper bags get decomposed quickly. It does not harm fertility. The smoke emitted from it is not poisonous.

The workshop was inaugurated by the school's patron NRI Sudarshan Garg. He said that people are becoming aware due to the active participation of the students of the school's eco club in making the environment clean. The main objective of the workshop was to warn people about the ill effects of polythene and to promote the use of jute and paper bags.

School's vice principal Anju Modgil said that the main objective of this workshop is to increase the use of jute and paper bags. .
