New recruits hail CM for transparent and fair recruitment

Gives credit of reversing the trend of going abroad amongst youth to Bhagwant Singh Mann

Chandigarh, November 25:The PSPCL employees who have got recruitment letter from the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Monday fully praised the AAP government for ensuring jobs to them in a completely fair and transparent manner.

Sharing her views, Gagandeep Kaur from Dasuya said that within two years she had got second appointment letter from the CM. She said that it has been possible only under this government. She lauded the CM for checking the brain drain by providing the jobs to the youth thereby ensuring that they don’t go abroad.

Sukhchain Kaur from Sangrur also lauded the CM for bringing ray of hope for youth to ensure the welfare of people. She said that none of the other government had ever thought about these things. She said that her family was totally indebted to the CM for providing jobs to them completely on merit.

Jaspreet Kaur from Sangrur also profusely the Chief Minister for the transparent and fair recruitment. She said that she had been trying for the job since long and her family was indebted to him.

Gurwinder Singh from Amritsar said that he hails from a very modest family and this was first government job in his entire family. He also said that CM has set a new benchmark by ensuring the entire process in a smooth and transparent manner.

Rujal Rani from Bathinda also thanked the Chief Minister for providing them job opportunity in a fair and transparent manner.

Parwinder Singh from Faridkot said that he was thankful to Chief Minister for completely the process of recruitment in a time bound manner.

Rahul Sharma from Sangrur said that he had joined the job after returning from Italy and will go home after getting his recruitment letter. He hailed the Chief Minister for reversing the trend amongst youth to go abroad.

Rs. 9.51 crore releases under Ashirwad Scheme: Dr. Baljit Kaur

1,867 Beneficiaries from Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes and Economically Weaker Sections will get Benefits

Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann committed to welfare of every section of society

Chandigarh, November 25:The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has released an amount of Rs. 9.51 crore to 1,867 beneficiaries belonging to Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes and Economically Weaker Sections under the Ashirwad Scheme.

Providing further details, Minister of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that the Punjab Government is working diligently for the welfare of Backward Classes and Economically Weaker Sections. She informed that under the Ashirwad Scheme, an amount of Rs. 6.78 crore has been released to a total of 1,331 beneficiaries from Backward Classes and Economically Weaker Sections, whose pending applications from 2023-24 were received on the Ashirwad Portal during 2024-25. This includes beneficiaries from the districts of Barnala, Faridkot, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Patiala, Rupnagar, S.A.S Nagar, S.B.S Nagar, Sangrur and Malerkotla.

The Cabinet Minister further stated that the Punjab Government is consistently working for the welfare of Scheduled Castes. She informed that under the Ashirwad Scheme, a total of Rs. 2.73 crore has been released to 536 beneficiaries from Scheduled Castes. These pending applications from the financial year 2023-24 that were received through the Ashirwad Portal during the financial year 2024-25. This amount will benefits 196 beneficiaries in Bathinda, 74 in Rupnagar, 63 in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar and 203 in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar.

Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that to be eligible for the benefits of the Ashirwad Scheme, the applicant must be a permanent resident of Punjab, belong to a family below the poverty line and be associated with Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes, or other economically weaker sections. Furthermore, the total annual income of the family from all sources must be less than Rs. 32,790. Under this scheme, two daughters from such families are eligible to avail of the benefits.

The Cabinet Minister further stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is consistently working towards the welfare of people belonging to Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes and economically weaker sections. She mentioned that financial assistance is directly transferred to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. She emphasized that the Punjab Government is diligently working to elevate the living standards of all sections of society and strengthen them economically.

SOON, PUNJAB TO START UROMIN LICK BLOCKS PLANT IN PATIALA

•Multi-nutrient blocks to be made available at affordable rates to the livestock farmers, says Gurmeet Singh Khudian

•Blocks help improve the overall body condition of animals and stimulate the cycling of anestrous animals

Chandigarh, November 25:In a unique initiative, the Punjab Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Department is all set to start a Uromin Lick (Pashu Chaat) plant at Govt. Cattle Breeding Farm, Rauni in the Patiala district.

Disclosing this here today, Punjab Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Minister S. Gurmeet Singh Khudian stated that Uromin Lick (UML) or Urea-Molasses Multi-nutrient Blocks (UMMB) are multi-nutrient blocks that combine energy, protein and minerals, serving as a crucial feed supplement and lifesaver. These mineral-rich blocks help improve the overall body condition of animals, stimulate the cycling of anestrous animals and enhance conception rates.

A storage unit for Uromin Lick blocks will be established in Kapurthala district, S. Gurmeet Singh Khudian said while adding that these Uromin Lick blocks will be made available to farmers through the Civil Veterinary Hospitals and Dispensaries across the state. The Uromin Lick blocks will be made available at the affordable rates to the marginal livestock farmers.

He said that this technology is a convenient and cost-effective way to provide a range of nutrients to animals by improving the digestion of low-quality roughages. It enhances productivity, besides increasing milk production and improving reproductive efficiency in cattle and buffalo,

Principal Secretary Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Mr Rahul Bhandari emphasised that this is going to be a boon for the livestock farmers of the state as it will help them increase the production of their milch animals thereby improving their overall economic conditions. He also urged the livestock farmers to adopt this technology in the daily ration of their animals as per the advice of Veterinary Officers of their area so as to have the balanced nutrition to improve the overall production and health of the livestock.

Jail Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar inaugurates petrol pumps at Nabha and Fazilka Jails

Revenue from these petrol pumps to be utilized for jail reforms: Jail Minister

Chandigarh/Nabha (Patiala), November 25:Punjab Jail Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, on Monday, inaugurated an Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) petrol pump (Ujala Fuels) set up by the Punjab Jail Development Board outside District Jail Nabha (Maximum Security Jail), besides virtually inaugurated a petrol pump at Sub-Jail Fazilka.

The Cabinet Minister was accompanied by ADGP Jails Arunpal Singh, IG Jails Roop Kumar Arora, DIG Jails S.S. Saini and IOC Executive Director Jatinder Kumar and GM Subhash M. Tumne.

While addressing the gathering, Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, continuous efforts are being made for the holistic development of Punjab. He said, latest machineries are being installed inside jails to engage inmates in productive work. Eight petrol pumps have been established outside various state jails, said the Cabinet Minister, adding that whereas six pumps have already been set up in Ludhiana, Ropar, Hoshiarpur, Ferozepur, Sangrur and Patiala districts, two more pumps have been inaugurated in Nabha and Fazilka jails today.

He highlighted that each petrol pump generates a monthly income of around Rs.5 lakh, which is being reinvested into jail reforms and for the welfare of the inmates.

He said that these petrol pumps, operated by Punjab Jail Development Board and IOC, will involve well-behaved inmates in their operations, providing them an opportunity to work outside the jail premises, thereby contributing to their mental and physical well-being and generating income for them.

Chandigarh/Patiala, November 25:Punjab Jails and Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, on Monday, said that gangsters and notorious criminals will be housed in a new under-construction high-profile security jail near Jagraon, Ludhiana, with an aim to dismantle criminal networks operating from within the prison system. The Cabinet Minister was addressing the passing-out parade of 132 warders and 4 matrons of Batch No. 97 at the Punjab Jail Training School in Patiala. He inspected the parade and took the ceremonial salutation.

Speaking to the media, Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, who was accompanying by ADGP Jails Arun Pal Singh, said that new jails in Punjab will be constructed at least one kilometre away from habitats to ensure that advanced security systems, such as state-of-the-art jammers, do not disrupt nearby residents. This measure will also prevent contraband like drugs and mobile phones from being smuggled into jails by external elements, he added.

Highlighting the challenges faced by the Jail Department, including security concerns, staff shortages and prisoner rehabilitation, Laljit Singh Bhullar said the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led government is working towards modernization of the Jails including installation of artificial intelligence-based CCTV cameras and mobile jammers in prisons.

Jail Minister also announced that the recruitment of 13 DSPs, 175 warders, 4 matrons and additional doctors and paramedical staff to be initiated soon to strengthen the department. As part of prisoner rehabilitation initiatives, petrol pumps have been installed in eight prisons across Punjab, he added.

While congratulating the newly graduated warders and matrons, Laljit Singh Bhullar urged them to perform their duties with honesty, integrity and fearlessness while adhering to the law. He also advised them to contribute to the welfare of prisoners.

The Jail Minister presented awards to outstanding trainees including Matron Gurinder Kaur for excelling in indoor training, Warder Ramandeep Singh for shooting and Warder Amandeep Singh for outdoor training. Parade commanders and platoon leaders were also honoured for their exceptional performance. The event concluded with demonstrations of martial arts, unarmed combat and a vibrant Bhangra performance by the trainees.

The function was attended by senior officials including IG Jails Roop Kumar Arora, DIG Jails Surinder Singh, Superintendent of Central Jail Patiala Varun Sharma and other dignitaries.

GoP Invites Applications for Chairman of Punjab Public Service Commission

Chandigarh, November 25-The Government of Punjab has invited applications from distinguished individuals with impeccable integrity, high caliber, and administrative experience to fill the vacant position of Chairman of the Punjab Public Service Commission, Patiala.

Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of Punjab Government said that as per the eligibility criteria, the applicants must have held office for at least 10 years under the Government of India or the Government of State. Additionally, they should be less than 62 years of age on the date of issue of public notice in this regards.

The interested applicants are required to submit their complete bio-data, including an undertaking, to the office of Secretary Personnel, Government of Punjab (PP-3 Branch), Room No. 14, 6th floor, Punjab Civil Secretariat, Sector 1, Chandigarh. The deadline for submission of applications is 5:00 PM on December 7, 2024.

A Search Committee headed by the Chief Secretary, will shortlist the names of eligible candidates. These names will then be considered by the High-Powered Committee, chaired by the Chief Minister of Punjab.
