Chandigarh, November 27- Reaffirming his dedication to a cleaner environment and emphasizing the crucial role of cleanliness in shaping a beautiful Haryana, Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini embodied the true spirit of a 'Swachhata Doot', when he personally participated in a cleanliness drive by picking up the broom to clean the dirt after launching the massive ‘Swachh Kurukshetra Mahasafai Abhiyan’ in Kurukshetra on Wednesday. This initiative taken by the Chief Minister aims to raise awareness among citizens and transform this cleanliness campaign into a mass movement, making Haryana not just clean but a benchmark for cleanliness across states.
Meanwhile, after inaugurating the ‘Swachh Kurukshetra Mahasafai Abhiyan’ in Thanesar city, the Chief Minister also flagged off the ‘Swachhata Rath’ especially started to ensure cleanliness in Kurukshetra ahead of International Gita Mahotsav. Besides this, he also signed the Swachh Kurukshetra board to emphasize the message of cleanliness.
During the event, hundreds of people joined the Chief Minister for an hour-long cleanliness drive from Sheikh Chilli’s Tomb to OP Jindal Park, Jyotiba Phule, and Tau Devi Lal Chowk. The Chief Minister launched the campaign across 18 zones of Kurukshetra, administered a cleanliness pledge, and urged every citizen to participate in the movement.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that ensuring cleanliness and making Kurukshetra more beautiful should be the utmost priority of the officers and the residents, especially as the International Gita Mahotsav is nearing and thousands of visitors from across the globe will be visiting the holy land. He said that Kurukshetra’s cleanliness and aesthetic appeal are vital to its global recognition.
*Government aims to make Haryana completely clean, CM
The Chief Minister reiterated Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi’s call for a nationwide Swachata Abhiyan. He said that a clean environment will not only eradicate diseases but also ensure a healthier population, paving the way for national progress. Haryana, he said, is on track to develop three times faster, with cleanliness as its foremost goal.
Efforts are being made to address the shortage of staff in all Civic Bodies, and there will be no shortage of resources. Under the Swachh Bharat Mission, 7,75,810 individual toilets and more than 6,000 community sanitation complexes have been constructed in rural areas so far, said Sh. Nayab Singh Saini.
The Chief Minister said that Haryana’s strides in cleanliness were noted, with 17 urban local bodies certified as Open Defecation Free (ODF), 59 as ODF Plus, and 2 as Water Plus. The state ranked 14th nationally in the Swachh Survekshan 2023 among states with fewer than 100 urban local bodies. Two waste management plants, each with a capacity of 1,200 metric tons, in Gurugram and Faridabad will be set up, which are expected to boost Haryana’s ranking in cleanliness surveys, said Sh. Nayab Singh Saini.
The Chief Minister assured that there would be no funds constraints or compromises in the mission to keep Kurukshetra clean. He emphasized strict implementation of the campaign, with close monitoring by the Deputy Commissioner to ensure no lapses.
Former Minister of State, Sh. Subhash Sudha said that Thanesar has been divided into 18 zones, with thousands contributing to the cleanliness drive. He called for greater participation, emphasizing that achieving a clean Kurukshetra requires the collective effort of every citizen.
Deputy Commissioner Neha Singh, Superintendent of Police Varun Singla and representatives of various organizations and officials were also present on this occasion.

Chandigarh November 27: Under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, Haryana is rapidly emerging as a global hub for education, with numerous countries showing interest in establishing campuses in the state.
In line with this, a delegation from a consortium of six top universities in Australia, led by Mr. Nick McCaffrey, Deputy High Commissioner of the Australian High Commission, met with the Chief Minister here today. The delegation expressed a strong interest in setting up a campus, in Gurugram, to offer undergraduate courses.
The Australian delegation also included Mr Mathew Johnston, Minister Counsellor, Education and Research, Australian High Commission and Prof Simon Biggs, IRU Chair and Vice Chancellor and President, James Cook University and representatives of Universities.
Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh welcomed the delegation and assured them of the full support and cooperation of the State Government, including providing an existing building to start the campus and all other necessary facilities. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will soon be signed in this regard. The Chief Minister further stated that the state has Foreign Cooperation Department to hand hold the foreign requirements. The Foreign Cooperation Department will be coordinating for the further locations as per the requirements of the Innovative Research Universities (IRUs) of Australia.
With the establishment of the campus, students will no longer need to travel to Australia, as they will be able to pursue undergraduate courses right here in Haryana. Upon completing their studies, they will receive a certificate from the Australian university, which will open doors to lucrative job opportunities, not only in Haryana but globally. This initiative will help students from Haryana save on hefty tuition fees and other expenses associated with studying abroad. After 12th grade, students on this campus will have the opportunity to pursue four-year integrated courses in Software Engineering, Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Financial Technology, Tourism and Hospitality, and Sports Management. The range of courses will be gradually expanded in alignment with the evolving needs of the state and the community.
The delegation also congratulated Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini on the stunning victory of the BJP in the Vidhan Sabha Elections held in October 2024. They also commended the Chief Minister for his people-friendly reputation.
Mr. Nick McCaffrey, Deputy High Commissioner of the Australian High Commission, stated that since 2014, Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi has opened new doors for mutual cooperation between India and Australia, with the education sector being the largest area of collaboration.
The delegation was informed that Haryana is celebrating International Gita Mahotsav with partner country Tanzania this year whereas Australia was the partner country of Haryana last year. After the meeting, the Chief Minister presented shrimad Bhagavad Gita to the members of the delegation as a mark of respect.

*Bye-election for a Rajya Sabha seat in Haryana to be held on December 20*

Chandigarh, November 27- The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced bye-elections schedule for vacant Rajya Sabha seat in Haryana along with three other states. The bye-election will be held on December 20, 2024 for a Rajya Sabha seat in Haryana.
Notably, the Rajya Sabha seat in Haryana became vacant due to the resignation of Sh. Krishan Lal Panwar, for which the bye-election will be held.
As per the election schedule issued by the Election Commission of India, the notification will be issued on December 3. Nominations can be filed until December 10. The scrutiny of nominations will be done on December 11, and nominations can be withdrawn until December 13. Voting will take place on December 20 from 9 AM to 4 PM, and the counting of votes will be held on the same day. The election process will be completed on December 24.
Adequate measures for close monitoring of the election process by appointing observers shall be taken to ensure free and fair elections.

Justice Lalit Batra assumed office as Chairperson of HHRC
Chandigarh, Nov 27 – Justice Lalit Batra today assumed office as the Chairperson of the Haryana Human Rights Commission, along with two newly appointed members, Sh Kuldip Jain and Sh Deep Bhatia.
Haryana government has appointed Justice Lalit Batra (Retired) Punjab and Haryana High Court as the Chairperson of the Haryana Human Rights Commission alongwith Sh Kuldip Jain, a retired District and Sessions Judge and Sh Deep Bhatia as Members.
Justice Lalit Batra is a former Judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court. Sh Kuldip Jain, a retired District and Sessions Judge, and Sh Deep Bhatia, a senior advocate. Sh. Deep Bhatia has also remained a member and acting Chairperson of the Human Rights Commission.

Urban Local Bodies Minister held a meeting with District Municipal Commissioners and Chairman Municipal Councils
Chandigarh, November 27 – Haryana Minister for Urban Local Bodies, Revenue, Disaster Management, and Civil Aviation, Mr. Vipul Goyal said that there will be no compromise on the quality of construction materials used in development projects. He also made it clear that monopoly in contractor tenders will not be allowed. All works will be allotted in a transparent and fair manner through negotiations.
Mr. Vipul Goyal made these remarks while chairing a meeting to review and approve the Haryana tender rates for projects in the Municipal Councils of Narwana, Jind, Mandi Dabwali, Thanesar, and Ratia here today.
The meeting was attended by officers from the Urban Local Bodies Department, District Municipal Commissioners from Jind, Sirsa, and Kurukshetra, as well as the Chairpersons of the respective Municipal Councils.
On a demand raised by the Chairperson of Jind Municipal Council regarding the unnecessary delays by the technical wing in tender allocation, the Minister directed the District Municipal Commissioner to conduct an inquiry within one month. He further said that the past performance of the agency to which the work is being allotted should be thoroughly checked to ensure its work quality meets the required standards. Additionally, the Minister stressed that the tender process should be completed within a month.
Addressing concerns about the shortage of employees in local bodies, the Minister mentioned that a report detailing the staffing requirements of all Nagar Parishads and Nagar Palikas has been requested. This report is expected to be submitted to the headquarters soon, so that the process of filling vacancies can be initiated.
The development works for which Haryana tender rates were fixed in the meeting include the lifting of garbage currently dumped near the Delhi-Ferozepur railway line in Nagar Parishad Jind, biological treatment of legacy waste behind Ram Bagh in Mandi Dabwali, and the laying of a synthetic track at Eklavya Stadium in Jind. In addition, the construction of the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Study Centre in Nagar Parishad Narwana, and rates for roads and streets with interlocking paving blocks in newly regularized colonies of Nagar Palika Ratia were also finalized.

2 lakh poor of Haryana will soon have their own house: Krishan Lal Panwar
Government preparing blueprint for providing 100 square yard plots: Minister
Chandigarh, November 27 - Haryana Development and Panchayat Minister Sh. Krishan Lal Panwar said the state government is preparing a blueprint for providing 100 square yard plots to help low-income people build houses and soon, the dream of two lakh poor people of Haryana to have their own house will come true.
Sh. Panwar was addressing villagers after listening to their problems in Atawala, Dumyana, Urlana Kalan, Ahar, Khalila, Pardhana, Karad and Jondhan Kalan villages of the Israna Assembly constituency today.
The minister assured them that eligible poor people will be allotted plots of 100 square yards and all the necessary facilities like paved roads, electricity, clean drinking water, streetlights, parks and open green spaces will also be ensured in their area.
He said under the Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana, eligible beneficiaries will not only get plots of 100 square yards in different phases but there is also a provision to help the beneficiaries in building houses on these plots. Financial assistance will be provided under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) to help the beneficiaries build their houses.
Sh. Krishan Lal Panwar said the successful implementation of this scheme of the state government will improve the standard of living of poor families. The state government is committed to rural development. When Haryana was made a separate state in 1966, the resources were limited at that time, but today, thanks to the “double engine government”, there has been so much development in the last 10 years that Haryana is among the leading states of the country now.
He said the people of Haryana will make every possible effort to make India a developed nation by the year 2047 in accordance with the vision of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi.

*Improving Education Quality is the Government’s Priority: Education Minister
*Inspection of Sarthak Government Model Senior Secondary School in Panchkula
Chandigarh, November 27 – Haryana Education Minister, Sh. Mahipal Dhanda said thatimproving the quality of education in government schools is a top priority for the state government. During inspection of Sarthak Government Model Senior Secondary School in Sector 12-A, Panchkula, he lauded the school as a role model for all government schools in the state.
"All school principals should adopt this school as a role model and work towards developing similar frameworks in their schools,” Sh. Dhanda stated. He added that only by following such exemplary practices, the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 can be achieved, laying a strong foundation for students to meet the educational demands of the modern era.
*Attendance and Management Praised
The Education Minister inspected the functioning of the school and reviewed the attendance register for morning-shift teachers, finding all 50 TGT and PGT teachers present. The school operates in two shifts: classes 6 to 12 in the morning and classes 1 to 5 in the afternoon.
During his visit, Sh. Dhanda appreciated the classroom seating arrangements and commended the school management for their efforts. Addressing the students, he encouraged them to study diligently to bring pride to their parents and the state.
*Facility Inspections and Support
The Minister also visited the science lab, where he interacted with students working on projects and blessed them for their endeavors. Additionally, he toured the art gallery and sports grounds, motivating students actively participating in sports.
*Parents’ Preference and Future Plans
The school principal, Dr. Pawan Kumar Gupta, highlighted the institution’s popularity, stating that over 2,500 students are currently enrolled, and many parents aspire for their children to study at Sarthak School. He informed the minister about the approved construction of four new classrooms and requested administrative approval for the same to ensure timely completion for the next academic session.
The minister assured swift administrative clearance for the project, reiterating that grants for infrastructure development in government schools would not face delays. He urged all school heads to submit infrastructure-related requirements promptly to ensure timely funding.
The inspection was accompanied by Panchkula District Education Officer Satpal Kaushik.
