Chandigarh, November 27:Punjab Transport Minister S. Laljit Singh Bhullar, on Wednesday, handed over appointment letters to 17 newly recruited employees on compassionate ground.
While congratulating the appointees, the Cabinet Minister urged them to work with dedication and missionary zeal to serve the society. Public service is a noble responsibility, said the Cabinet Minister, encouraging the recruits to contribute meaningfully to the welfare of the people.
Several candidates appointed today in the Transport Department emotionally shared that they had been waiting for jobs for 10 to 32 years, but previous governments never extended their support.
Newly appointed employee Sarbajeet Singh from village Nangal Feeda, Jalandhar district said that after his father Dara Singh's death, he applied for a job in the department in the year 1992. However, due to previous governments' negligence and indifference, he faced continuous disappointment. Expressing gratitude to Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann and Transport Minister S. Laljit Singh Bhullar, Sarbajeet Singh said that the Mann government's efforts finally secured him a job almost 32 years later.
Sukhdev Singh, now in his 51st year of age, shared that after his father Harcharan Singh r/o village Mukandpur, Jalandhar district, died on duty in 2000, he applied for a compassionate job. However, previous governments consistently pushed him aside, making him a subject of ridicule for nearly 24 years. He said that the Mann government has now extended support, expediting his case and ultimately providing employment.
Similarly, newly-appointed employees Sukhbir Singh s/o late Tarsem Singh from Jaspal Nagar, Sultanwind Road (Amritsar) and Rajinder Singh s/o late Jaswant Kaur from Shaheed Udham Singh Nagar, Tarn Taran Road (Amritsar) were got appointed after 18 years of waiting. Similarly, Mrs. Asha w/o late Ashok Kumar from Ferozepur city and Jaswinder Singh s/o late Satpal Singh from Kalka (Panchkula) received employment after 14 years, while Gagandeep Singh s/o late Ruldu Singh from Sri Muktsar Sahib secured a job after 13 years of anticipation. Overjoyed, these employees profusely thanked Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann and Transport Minister S. Laljit Singh Bhullar.
While taking previous Akali-BJP and Congress governments iron-handedly, Transport Minister S. Laljit Singh Bhullar said that eligible candidates were sidelined for up to 32 years due to previous government's lethargy and lackadaisical approach.
He said, Mann government is relentlessly working to provide employment opportunities to the state's youth, mentioning that upon assuming the Transport Department's responsibility, he immediately instructed officers to expedite job-related matters. He further directed them to process compassionate employment cases on a priority basis, saying that no further delays would be tolerated.
S. Bhullar said that Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann led government is committed to creating ample employment opportunities for the state's youth. He noted that around 50,000 government jobs have already been provided so far.
He further encouraged the newly-appointed employees to become integral contributors to the state’s development, urging them to prioritize the well-being of every section of society.
The Transport Minister said, in a historic achievement, the Mann government has created a record by providing nearly 50,000 government jobs within just 32 months since assuming office in March 2022. The Cabinet Minister also pointed out a positive trend of reverse migration, as many youth previously compelled to seek opportunities abroad are now returning to Punjab due to the favourable employment environment created by the Mann government.

CHANDIGARH/SAS NAGAR, November 27:In a major breakthrough, Punjab Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) in a joint operation with SAS Nagar Police apprehended two operatives of Davinder Bambiha Gang and recovered two .32 calibre pistols along with seven cartridges from their possession, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Wednesday.
Those arrested have been identified as Harinder Singh, a resident of village Mehmadpur in SAS Nagar and Gurjinder Singh, a resident of Varana in SAS Nagar.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said that the arrested accused were handled by USA-based Kulveer Singh alias Lala Benipal, an aide of absconding foreign-based gangster Lucky Patial. Accused Lala Benipal had earlier orchestrated two separate attacks in SAS Nagar, including one on a Financer in September 2023 and other on a rival gang member in December 2023, he added.
The DGP said that preliminary investigations have revealed that they were tasked to carry out a series of crimes in the tricity region. Further investigations are on establish forward and backward linkages in this case, he added.
Sharing operation details, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) SAS Nagar Deepak Pareek said police teams had received reliable inputs that Lala Benipal has tasked his gang members to carry out criminal activities in the tricity. Acting swiftly on the information, joint teams of AGTF and SAS Nagar Police traced the accused persons and successfully arrested them near Focal Point, Mubarakpur, he said.
The SSP said that accused Harinder has a criminal background with cases pertaining to attempt to murder and Arms Act related offences registered against him. Further investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest their other associates, he added.
A case FIR No 354, dated 25/11/2024 has been registered under section 111 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and sections 25(6)(7) and 27 of the Arms Act at Police Station Dera Bassi in SAS Nagar.

Punjab Additional CEO Harish Nayar hand over draft electoral roll of Dera Baba Nanak, Chabbewal, Gidharbaha and Barnala to representatives of political parties

Chandigarh, November 27 :Additional Chief Electoral Officer Punjab, Harish Nayar handed over the CDs of draft electoral roll (without photographs) of Dera Baba Nanak, Chabbewal, Gidharbaha and Barnala to all the representatives of the recognized political parties of Punjab.
During the meeting at CEO Office, Harish Nayar said that, the total number of voters in these constituencies till the publication of the draft voter lists on 27 November 2024 are 697413. Out of which, male voters are 366077, female voters are 331310, third gender 26, NRI 51, disabled voters 5729 and service voters are 3968.
He further informed that at present the total number of polling stations in these four constituencies are 831, All the polling stations are facilitated with coverage of assured minimum amenities such as ramps, drinking water, lighting, chairs and toilets have been arranged for voters.
Regarding the draft electoral roll is 27 November 2024. Meanwhile, sweep activities will also be conducted to increase voter awareness from November 27 to December 12, 2024. Additional Chief Electoral Officer said that special camps will be held on November 30, 2024 (Saturday), December 08, 2024 (Sunday),. The last date for settling the claims and objections filed regarding the draft electoral roll is December 24, 2024. After this, the final voter list would be published on January 6, 2025 (Monday).
During the meeting, the additional Chief Electoral Officer appealed to the representatives of the political parties to appoint their booth level agents at each polling station so that the process of publishing the final voter list can be completed in a transparent manner.
During the meeting, Joint CEO Sakkatar Singh Bal, Deputy CEO Bharat Bhushan Bansal, Election Officer Anju Bala, other officials of CEO office and representatives of political parties were present.

CZECH REPUBLIC AMBASSADOR CALLS ON SPEAKER OF PUNJAB LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY
Chandigarh, November 27:Czech Republic Ambassador to India, Dr. Eliska Zigova, today called on Speaker of the Punjab Legislative Assembly Mr. Kultar Singh Sandhwan. Meanwhile, both the leaders emphasized on strengthening mutual cooperation between India and the Czech Republic.

ENSURE STRICT COMPLIANCE OF THE PROVISION OF NO NOC FOR THE REGISTRATION OF PLOTS: MUNDIAN TO DIVISIONAL COMMISSIONERS AND DCs

REITERATES COMMITMENT OF THE STATE GOVERNMENT TO ENSURE WELL BEING OF EVERY SECTION OF SOCIETY
Chandigarh, November 27-In consonance with the commitment of the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to facilitate the common man, the Revenue and Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardip Singh Mundian has asked all the Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners to ensure strict compliance of the provision of no NOC for the registration of plots.
In a letter to the Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners, Mundian has unequivocally said that the historic Punjab Apartment and Property Regulation (Amendment) Act, 2024 to do away with the practice of No Objection Certificate (NOC) for registration of land deeds. The Minister said that the Punjab assembly had given consent to this bill on September 3 after which the Governor had passed it and subsequently the state government had issued notification in this regard.
He said that this amendment aims to ensure stringent control over the illegal colonies besides giving relief to the small plot holders adding as per notification of the Housing department people can avail the benefit of this historic act from December 1, 2024 to February 2025.
In this regard, the Revenue department has issued an official letter to all the divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners of all districts and sent a copy of the notification issued by the Urban Development and Housing department, instructing them to follow it.
The Minister said that this is a major reprieve for the common man as it aims to overcome the problem being faced by the general public in the registration of their plots and to put a check on the development of unauthorized colonies. He said that this stipulates provisions of penalty and punishment to offenders adding that it is a historic decision aimed at ensuring the well being of the common man.
Mr Mundian said that as per the amendment any person who upto July 31, 2024, for an area upto five hundred square yards situated in an unauthorized colony, has entered into a power of attorney, agreement to sell on stamp paper, or any other such document will not require any No Objection Certificate for registration of land.
The Minister said that the officers must ensure meticulous compliance with these orders of the state government so that the public does not face any harassment. He said that the state government is committed to ensuring the well-being of people and no stone should be left unturned for this. He said that every act of the state government is aimed at ensuring the progress of the state and the prosperity of the people.

Vigilance Bureau nabs Tehsildar red handed taking Rs 20,000 bribe for land registration
Chandigarh November 27, 2024 - The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, has apprehended Sukhcharan Singh, Tehsildar, posted at tehsil Tapa in district Barnala red handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs. 20,000.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the VB said the above mentioned officer has been arrested based on a complaint lodged by Amrik singh, a resident of village Beehla, in district Barnala.
He further informed that the complainant has approached the VB and informed that his friend Harbhajan Singh, of village Maur Nabha, in Barnala district had to get registration of 2 canal 4 marla of agricultural land from the said Tehsildar but he was demanding a bribe of Rs 20,000 from complainant.
He further added that after verification of this complaint the VB barnala unit laid a trap during which the above said Tehsildar was arrested red handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses. The bribe amount of tainted money has also been recovered from the account.
In this regard a case has been registered against the accused under prevention of corruption act at VB police station Patiala range and further investigation into this case was under progress, he said.

Chandigarh/ New Delhi, November 27:Punjab is rapidly transforming into a farm tourism hub across the country as the Farm Tourism Policy has been reshaping the tourism in the state, said S. Tarunpreet Singh Sond, Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Punjab here on Wednesday.
Addressing the Punjab Day celebrations at the India International Trade Fair (IITF), 2024 organised at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, S. Tarunpreet Singh Sond highlighted the Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann led state government's initiatives to promote tourism and significant steps taken for the overall development to make the state “Rangla Punjab”.
He said that Punjab Government has been making concerted efforts to develop farm, rural and agro-tourism at a large scale. As a result of these efforts, the village Hansali in the Fatehgarh Sahib district was awarded the title of Best Village of India in September this year.
He said that farm tourism has been proving beneficial in strengthening the local economy and increasing farmers' income, thereby creating new opportunities for tourism.
Sharing achievements, S. Sond said that “Invest Punjab” portal ranked first among 28 states. The Punjab state has approximately 58,000 registered MSMEs, which is also highest in the country. Besides promoting religious and farm tourism, he said that Punjab Government is mulling to set up a film city to tap the entertainment potential of the state as the state has a lot to offer geographically, culturally and historically, as it is home to many sacred sites, martyrs’ villages, water bodies and untouched tourist destinations.
To further boost tourism in the state, the Punjab Government has also launched the Water & Adventure Tourism Policy 2023, which aims to promote river rafting, boating, water sports and other water-based tourism activities, he added.
The Cabinet Minister S. Sond, along with Secretary Tourism and Culture Affairs Mr. Malwinder Singh Jaggi and Director Ms Amrit Singh, visited the Punjab Pavilion, where stalls by various departments and institutes including Punjab Tourism, Markfed, Verka, PSIEC-Invest Punjab, PUDA, PEDA, PIDB, PSAMB, Punjab Agriculture University Ludhiana etc have been set up to showcase the state’s rich culture, heritage, industrial growth, agricultural innovations and handicraft as well as related products and traditional handicrafts and delectable cuisine.
Meanwhile, the Tourism Minister also inaugurated the cultural evening, the renowned singer Lakhwinder Wadali captivated the audience with his soulful Sufi music, delivering a mesmerising performance that left everyone enchanted.
Congratulating the team of the Tourism department for showcasing the best of Punjab’s tourism and rich culture and heritage during IITF, he also invited the hotel and other industries to invest in Punjab to experience the warm hospitality of the state. Investment in Punjab will be a complete package of farm tourism, adventure tourism, rural tourism and cultural tourism in the predominantly agricultural State of Punjab as the state government has created a conducive and investment friendly environment.
