SHIMLA, 27.11.24-Naresh Chauhan, Principal Advisor (Media) to Chief Minister said today that the statements making by the former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur for the last few days about working of the present state government are totally baseless and it clearly shows that there was some pressure on him which may related to his future politics and the internal conflict going on in the BJP. He asked Jai Ram Thakur that before raising question on the State Government, he should list the work done by the previous BJP government during his tenure.

Naresh Chauhan said that Jai Ram Thakur should tell the public that what steps his government took to improve the economy of the State and what was his vision for the development of the State. He said Liquor Mafia was dominant during the regime of previous BJP Government and some people even lost their lives due to poisonous liquor. Besides, the police constable paper leak case affected the image of the State in the entire country, he added.

He said that corruption took place openely in many recruitments of JOA(IT) during former BJP Government regime and when the Congress Government came into power in 2022, the entire corruption was investigated impartially and many culprits were arrested. The present state government declared the pending results and provided employment to the educated youth.

Media Advisor said that Jai Ram Thakur distributed freebies a few months before the elections and notified 100 institutions without making any provisions. Despite this, the people of the State rejected the BJP in the elections and brought the Congress to power in the State. He said that the opposition should raise the voice for the interest of the State and not to adopt such kinds of tactics to defame and weaken the Government for their vestes interests.

Naresh Chauhan said that Government does not need a certificate from the opposition. He said that BJP ran the operation lotus in the State, but the people gave a befitting reply to the BJP. He said previous BJP Government left no stone unturned in ruining the economy of the State and when the present government came into power, the state had a debt of more than 75000 crores, besides the liabilities of 12000 crores of the employees and pensioners of the State.

He said that Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu took effective steps to strengthen the economy of the State and raised revenue of Rs. 2200 crores in the first year, besides additional revenue of Rs. 500 crore was raised by the auctioning of liquor shops. He said that Chief Minister is moving forward with a vision. The Government is moving with the goal of a green state and effective steps were being taken in the direction of e-vehicle and solar energy. Many more important decisions have been taken to strengthen the rural economy, Chauhan added.

He alleged that previous government mortgaged the interests of the State by making wrong agreements with SJVNL under power policy.
