Chandigarh, 15th Feb: The Postgraduate Department of Economics and Entrepreneurship, GGDSD College, Chandigarh, successfully organized a special lecture on “Economics of Trade Agreements”, featuring Dr. Rahul Arora (Assistant Professor, Department of Economics and Finance, BITS Pilani) as the distinguished speaker.

The session commenced with a green welcome by Dr. Ajay Sharma (Principal), Dr. Vivek Sharma (Registrar & Head of Department) and Mr. Ashutosh Sharma (Dean, Faculty of Humanities).
Principal Dr. Ajay Sharma welcomed Dr. Arora and emphasized how trade agreements shape the world by influencing economic growth, market access, and regulatory frameworks while also posing challenges to sustainability and equity. He also highlighted the contradictions between global needs and aspirations.
Dr. Arora provided valuable insights into the economic implications of trade agreements, their benefits and costs to member countries, and strategies for maximizing welfare through trade integration policies.
During his lecture, Dr. Rahul Arora discussed the economics of international trade agreements, emphasizing how nations can leverage trade policies for economic growth. He highlighted the conditions necessary to enhance welfare under trade integration policies and explained the impact of market access, tariff reductions, and investment flows on participating economies.
