CHANDIGARH, 28.03.25-In a remarkable commitment to community health, PGIMER has received a state-of-the-art “Blood Donation Camp Vehicle” donated by INTAS Foundation. This significant contribution will enhance PGIMER's ability to augment blood donation drives, facilitating vital access to blood supplies for patients in need across the region.
During the handover ceremony, Prof. Vivek Lal, Director PGIMER, expressed deep appreciation for INTAS's generous support. “We are incredibly thankful to INTAS for this essential donation. The mobile unit will empower us to broaden our outreach and organize blood donation drives in various locations, significantly increasing our ability to collect blood and help those in critical situations,” he stated.
The newly donated bus is equipped to support blood donation camps at schools, colleges, and community events, aligning perfectly with PGIMER's mission to improve healthcare access.
Prof. Rati Ram, Head, Transfusion Medicine, highlighted the transformative potential of this initiative. “With this new state of the art Vehicle”, we can engage a larger number of donors and promote regular blood donation. This is crucial for ensuring that we can meet the needs of our patients effectively,” he remarked.
Mr. Deepak from INTAS Foundation, who handed over the key, also shared his enthusiasm about the partnership. “Our collaboration with PGIMER underscores our commitment to enhancing community health. We hope this mobile unit will inspire more people to participate in blood donation efforts, a vital need in healthcare,” he noted.
The event was also attended by senior faculty members, including Prof. A K Aggarwal, Acting Deputy Director Administration, and Prof. Ashok Kumar, Acting Medical Superintendent and other senior faculty from Transfusion Medicine comprising Dr. Hari Krishan Dhawan, Dr. Rekha Hans, Dr. Divjot Singh Lamba, Dr. Lakhvinder Singh, Dr. Sheetal Malhotra and Dr. Sangeeta Kumari who echoed their excitement about the potential impact of the bus on patient care.
