CHANDIGARH,*19.10.2024*-The Department of General Surgery (Division of Endocrine & Breast Surgery Unit) at PGIMER held an impactful public forum today as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, aimed at educating the community on breast cancer prevention, early detection, and timely treatment. Held in the Surgery OPD, the event saw a large turnout, with participants engaging in a range of awareness activities.
Inaugurating the event, Chief Gues*t *Prof. Sushmita Ghoshal* Head of the Department of Radiotherapy at PGIMER, emphasized, “Breast cancer is not only treatable but curable if detected in time. We must empower women with the knowledge and tools to recognize the signs early. This event is a step towards creating a more informed and proactive community.”
Speaking as Guest of Honour, *Dr. Pankaj Arora* , Additional Professor, Department of Hospital Administration, PGIMER, added, “Raising awareness about breast cancer is critical. Early detection saves lives, and through awareness and screening, we can reduce the number of lives lost to this disease. Today’s initiative is about building that awareness.”
