Chandigarh, September 25:Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday reiterated the firm commitment of the state government to ensure the well being of every strata of society.

During a meeting with the delegation of 1158 Assistant Professors and Librarians, who had called on the Chief Minister to express their gratitude after the verdict of the High Court, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government has made every effort to give relief to all sections of society. The delegation profusely thanked the Chief Minister for making every effort to bail them out from the legal tangle. They also bemoaned that the successive previous governments in the state had given a cold shoulder to them but the Chief Minister led government had extended a helping hand to them.

The Chief Minister said that the state government has evolved a foolproof mechanism for the entire recruitment process due to which not even a single appointment out of more than 45,000 have been challenged so far in any court. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that it is a proud moment for the government of Punjab that these youth have been given government jobs completely on the basis of merit. He said that it is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction for him that all the youth have been selected for these posts purely on the basis of their eligibility and intelligence.

Meanwhile, a member of the Librarian front thanked the Chief Minister for supporting their cause in a whole hearted manner. She said that this is the real change that is being witnessed in government colleges as recruitment in these colleges have been done after a gap of more than two decades. She said that they will ever remain indebted to the Chief Minister for this noble and path breaking initiative.

An Assistant Professor Dr. Sohel said that the recruitment process was started in 2021 adding that the state government led by Chief Minister safeguarded their interests. He said that this is a historic moment for them and their families as the state government has stood by them in this hour of crisis. He said that they are thankful to the Chief Minister for making them an integral part of the state government.

Chandigarh, September 25:Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday said that the state government is firmly committed for procuring every single grain of the farmers in the grain markets (Mandis).

The Chief Minister, during a meeting to review the paddy procurements in the state, said that the state government has already made elaborate arrangements for purchasing the golden harvest of the farmers as soon as it arrives in the Mandis. He said that a viable mechanism has been evolved to ensure on the spot payment to the farmers in their bank accounts. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that smooth and hassle free procurement of grains is being ensured in the market so that farmers don’t face any sort of inconvenience.

The Chief Minister said that all out efforts have been made to ensure smooth, hassle free and quick procurement of Paddy on one hand and facilitate the farmers in getting timely payment of their produce on the other. He categorically said that farmers of the state should not be put to any inconvenience for the sale of their produce in the mandis. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government is duty bound to ensure that every golden grain of the farmers is procured and lifted immediately.

Meanwhile, a delegation of the Punjab Rice Millers association called on the Chief Minister on the sidelines of the meeting. During meeting with the association, Bhagwant Singh Mann assured them that the state government will flag their issue with the union government. He said that the state government is duty bound to protect the interests of every section of the society.

The Chief Minister also raised the issue with Union Food and Civil Supplies Minister telephonically and sought his intervention to sort out the matter. He asked the Union Minister direct the FCI to create sufficient space for delivery of rice, so that procurement of paddy/rice of KMS 24-25 is carried out seamlessly in the State. Vehemently raising g he issue of serious lack of delivery space with the Food Corporation of India (FCI), the Chief Minister bemoaned that there is serious space crunch with FCI especially since May onwards which has hampered the delivery of rice of KMS 2023-24 by rice millers of the State to FCI in the Central Pool. He further said that it has also led to an apprehension amongst the rice millers of the State about the space crunch during the ensuing Kharif Season 2024-25.

Meanwhile, the Union government has granted Government of Punjab, authorisation of Cash Credit Limit of Rs 41,339.81 crore (Rupees Forty-One Thousand Three Hundred Thirty-Nine Crore Eighty-One Lakh Only for procurement of paddy up to end-October 2024 in KMS 2024-25.

CHANDIGARH, September 25:In a recognition to the dedication, hard work, and unwavering commitment of the Punjab Police in maintaining law and order, Punjab's Kiratpur Sahib Police Station has achieved a remarkable feat by securing the 8th rank nationally and 1st rank in Punjab in the ‘Annual Ranking of Police Stations for year 2023’ released by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on the basis of prefixed parameters, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Wednesday.

To commemorate this achievement, the police station has received two certificates signed jointly by the Union Home Minister and Union Home Secretary.

Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav accompanied by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Headquarters Dr Sukhchain Singh Gill has handed over both the certificates to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rupnagar Gulneet Singh Khurana and congratulated the latter and Station House Officer (SHO) Kiratpur Sahib on achieving this milestone.

Notably, the Ministry of Home Affairs evaluates police stations annually based on predefined parameters, including disposal of investigations, resolution of complaints, effective public dealing, maintenance of records, conviction rate, etc.

DGP Gaurav Yadav said that the Kiratpur Sahib Police Station hexcelled in these areas, demonstrating its commitment to efficient and responsive policing. This accomplishment underscores the effective policing strategies and community-oriented approach adopted by the Kiratpur Sahib Police, he added.

The DGP, while thanking the MHA for recognising the services of Punjab Police, said that this recognition serves as a motivation for the police personnel to continue delivering exceptional service and reflects Punjab Police's commitment to excellence and its efforts to create a safer, more secure environment for citizens.

Meanwhile, the police station's achievement was formally recognised during the annual DGsP/IGsP Conference-2023 held on January 5, 2024. The names of top ten Police Stations in the country were also read out in this ceremony, with Kiratpur Sahib Police Station proudly figuring among the nation's best.

Gram Panchayat Elections in Punjab to be held on 15th October 2024: R. K. Chaudhuri

· The Model Code of Conduct for Gram Panchayat Elections come into force with immediate effect

· The Commission has made all the arrangements to conduct the elections in a fair, free and peaceful manner.

Chandigarh 25 September 2024:State Election Commission has announced the Election Schedule for the conduct of the general Gram Panchayat Elections, in accordance with the Notification dated 19.9.2024 issued under s. 209 of the Punjab Panchayati Raj Act, 1994 by the Department of Rural Development & Panchayats.

Addressing the press conference, Punjab State Election Commissioner Raj Kamal Chaudhuri said that with the announcement of the Election Schedule, the Model Code of Conduct for Gram Panchayat Elections for the guidance of candidates and State has come into force with immediate effect, which will remain in force till the completion of the electoral process.

He further informed that as per the election schedule, the period for filing of nominations by candidates will commence from 27th September, 2024 (Friday) between 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the offices of the concerned Returning Officers. The last date for filing nominations will be 04.10.2024 (Friday). He added that no nominations will be accepted on 28.09.2024 being a public holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act. Scrutiny of the Nomination papers would take place on 05.10.2024 (Saturday). The last date for withdrawal of Nominations is 07.10.2024(Monday) upto 03:00 p.m.

Sharing more details, he revealed that the poll will be held on 15.10.2024 (Tuesday) from 08.00 a.m. to 04.00 p.m. through the use of Ballot Boxes. The polled votes will be counted on the same day at the polling station itself, after the completion of polling of votes. Furthermore, he added that Polling, wherever required, would be held for 13,237 Sarpanches and 83,437 Panches. Total electorate consists of 1,33,97,922 registered voters consisting of 70,51,722 Males, 63,46,008 Females, and 192 others.

In addition to this, he added that the expenditure limit notified for a candidate contesting for the post of Sarpanch is Rs. 40,000/-, whereas for Panch expenditure limit has been fixed at Rs. 30,000/-. Moreover, he said about 96,000 personnel will be deputed on election duty and 23 senior IAS/PCS Officers would be appointed as General Observers in the districts so as to ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of the polls at 19,110 polling booths. The Commission has made all the arrangements to conduct the elections in a fair, free and peaceful manner.

Construction commences for School of Eminence in historic town Kiratpur Sahib: Harjot Singh Bains

Chandigarh, September 25:The Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, has taken a significant step towards fulfilling a decades-old demand of the historic town of Kiratpur Sahib in Sri Anandpur Sahib Assembly constituency.

Providing details, Punjab Cabinet Minister S. Harjot Singh Bains announced that construction work has begun on two new blocks for the School of Eminence in Kiratpur Sahib. The Punjab Public Works Department officials initiated these projects today in the presence of local residents.

S. Bains, while reiterating his commitment to the comprehensive development of Kiratpur Sahib which had been neglected for decades, said that this development addresses a long-standing demand of the inhabitants of this historically and religiously significant town.

The Cabinet minister elaborated that the School of Eminence project includes the construction of two new blocks, a multipurpose hall, laboratory, a library, classrooms, toilet facilities, the installation of an elevator and renovation of existing block.

The Cabinet Minister highlighted previous developmental initiatives in Kiratpur Sahib, such as the beautification of Patalpuri Chowk, adorned with a rabab (a stringed instrument). He mentioned that projects like the sewage treatment plant are proving to be beneficial for the residents.

S. Bains revealed that comprehensive plans are being formulated to transform this sacred land, which has been graced by six Sikh Gurus. He added that Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann is actively pursuing efforts to develop the area's natural beauty as a tourist attraction.
